The Prep

The Dalai Lama recently arrived back in Dharamsala after an extended trip to Europe. His next teaching is scheduled for three days at Tibetan’s Children Village.

On the mornings of June 1 and 2 His Holiness will give teachings on Tsongkhapa’s In Praise of the Buddha for His Teaching on Dependent Arising (tendrel toepa) and Nagarjuna’s Drops of Nourishment for People (kyewo sothik). The teachings will be held at the TCV Auditorium at the request of Tibetan youth. Please note that only students will be allowed in the hall. Public interested in attending the teaching will be seated outside the hall and must bring FM radios with them in order to listen to the teaching.

The staff will finally have a chance to put all of Bennett’s training to the test, and the results will be easily measured: does it look good?

Is it working?

Teachings bring together staff from several Tibetan organizations in Dharamsala: Namgyal Archive, the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), and the Private Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Don from the Private Office

Don has worked at the Private Office for many years. In 2006, he kickstarted the effort to provide professional video streaming of teachings. Here is part of a schematic we made back then to map out how it would all fit together.

The teaching at TCV actually marks a technological milestone for the crew—the first stream using high definition video equipment.
