Walk to Dharamkot

Phuntsok, Passang, Bennett, and I met up at the cafe in the morning.

Left to right: Fuji FinePix F10, Canon S90, Canon 7D, Nikon D700, Sony HVR-Z1U, GoPro HD Hero, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4S

We brought plenty of cameras for the trip up to Dharamkot, a nearby village known for two things: an Israeli hippy community and pizza. We went for the pizza. Lobsang stayed behind to oversee the rewiring of the battery backup system.

Passang talks with a friend at the bottom of TIPA road

En route to TIPA, we pass Tenzin Tsepag’s house, which always appears to be on the verge of collapse.

Chemey’s friend Kalsang, a Snow Lion regular, was home, so we stopped to chat for a few minutes.

The Cafe By Mistake

We stopped in at TIPA to take some photos.

Bennett showed the guys how to measure f-stops in thirds. I thought I had camera basics down, but f-stops in thirds was somehow new to me. Did you know there’s an f/9 and 10 between f/8 and f/11?

Approaching Dharamkot

Quickly, the tranquil landscape gives way to the local fare. It feels eerily similar to San Francisco.

Dharamkot won’t be winning any graphic design awards this year. What gets me about this sign is that it’s not even the first attempt.
